Transportation
The safety of our students is our first priority, and we are pleased to provide our school family with transportation services to and from school. Please help your child understand the importance of following the rules; riding the bus is a privilege, and we want it to be a safe experience for everyone.
Riding The Bus
We provide transportation through Teton Stage Lines to all students in grades K–8 who reside within 15 miles by road of the school at no charge. We provide this service before and after school, but we do not have a midday run for our kindergarten students.
Riding the bus is a privilege, and we expect our students to assist district staff in ensuring that buses remain in good condition and to help ensure safe transportation by adhering to behavioral standards established by school transportation. Students who compromise the safety of others will lose the privilege of riding the bus.
Bus Rider Authorization
We require all bus riders to enroll on the bus roster with our school transportation coordinator. If you would like your student to ride the bus, please contact the school via email or phone at (208) 419-0742 to complete this process. Unenrolled students may not ride the bus. Do not contact Teton Stage Lines for authorization.
Changing Bus Plans
Students may only change transportation plans, ride a different bus, use a different stop, or skip the bus on a day they normally ride when a parent has made prior arrangements with both the student’s teacher and Mrs. Jacobs in the office. Please notify both no later than 12:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Mrs. Jacobs can be reached at secretary@monticellomontessori.com or 208-419-0742.
Bus Routes
Please note that our current bus routes are under construction and the times are subject to change.
Bus Pick Up Protocol
Please arrive on time to your child’s bus stop. We request your patience as stop times are approximate, and the drivers may arrive a few minutes early or late.
For the safety of the students, buses cannot remain at the bus stop for longer than two minutes. Drivers will wait for up to four minutes at the final route stop returning to the bus yard. Students will need to be picked up from Jaker’s, and will be assessed a $65 charge from the busing company. We will not permit any student returned to the school or the privilege of riding the bus again until all fees are paid.
Transportation Policies (ISBA / State Guidelines)
Monticello Montessori follows Idaho state transportation policies and the ISBA Model Policy Manual for Charter Schools. These policies outline how school transportation operates, including safety procedures, operations, and administrative responsibilities. Check out our official policies regarding busing here.
Bus Rider Rules from Teton Stage Lines
In addition to state transportation policies, our contracted bus provider, Teton Stage Lines, has established Student Rules of Safe Conduct for students riding the bus. These guidelines focus on day-to-day safety and respectful behavior to help create a safe and positive environment for all riders. Families and students should review these expectations together.

School Pick-Up & Drop-Off
To help morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up run safely and smoothly, please follow the procedures below.
Our carpool procedures allow us to move a large number of students and vehicles through a small area safely. When even a few cars stop, park, unload on the wrong side, or need extra time in the carpool lane, the entire line can back up very quickly.
Morning Drop-Off
- Please pull all the way forward to the cone or the vehicle directly in front of you.
- Please do not stop, park, or get out of your vehicle in the carpool lane.
- Students must exit from the passenger side only. Getting out on the driver’s side places students next to moving traffic and creates a serious safety risk.
- Please do not send children across the carpool lane by themselves.
- If your child needs help unbuckling, needs extra time getting out, or cannot safely exit from the passenger side, please park in the parking lot and walk them across the crosswalk.
- The carpool lane is for dropping off and going.
If carpool is not convenient for your family, you are always welcome to park in the parking lot and walk your child across the crosswalk. Please do not park in the bus loop.
Afternoon Pick-Up
Monticello Montessori will not release students between 2:30 p.m. and regular dismissal. Office pick-up is only for students who need to leave before 2:30 p.m.
If all families follow the guidelines below, we can complete student pick-up within 10 minutes of dismissal time.
- Please pull all the way forward to the cone or the vehicle directly in front of you.
- Please do not stop, park, or get out of your vehicle in the carpool lane.
- Students should enter vehicles from the passenger side.
- Please display the first and last name of each student you are picking up in your front window where our dismissal team can easily see it.
- When the carpool attendant sees your vehicle and the students’ names, we will bring your children to your vehicle.
- If your child needs help buckling, extra assistance, or additional time getting into the vehicle, please park in the lot and walk across the crosswalk.
- If you need a carpool name sign, please let a staff member on duty know, and we will happily give you one.
Thank you for helping us keep drop-off and pick-up safe, efficient, and moving. When everyone follows the same procedures, it makes a huge difference for our students, staff, and families.
We appreciate you!
